Enrichment
Curriculum Enrichment
Our curriculum extends beyond the National Curriculum and includes a wide range of enriching experiences and opportunities both within and beyond the school day. This will include an extensive programme of after-school clubs that support the core curriculum offer.
In addition to our exciting and stimulating themes, we will also provide further opportunities to enhance children’s learning.
Whole School Theme Days/Weeks
Throughout the year, themed days/weeks are woven into the curriculum to extend the breadth and balance of opportunities we offer our pupils. For example: Anti-bullying Week and Safety Day, Creative Arts Week, Black History Day, Sport & Health Week, Mini-enterprise Week.
Educational Visits and Residentials
Trips include class visits, visitors into school and residential are aimed at bringing learning alive and providing first-hand experience. This is further enhanced by the trust through The Vale Academy Trust Promise.
The Vale Academy Trust Promise
The Vale Academy Trust has a broad range of excellent opportunities on offer for all pupils from 2-16 Years. Being a part of the Trust, means that all of our children will have access to these opportunities as they move through St John's.
The VaT Awards
The Vale Academy Trust has a groundbreaking award scheme across all the primary schools including St John's. Supported by their class teachers, the aim is to provide every one of the Trust’s 1800 primary aged pupils with the opportunity to develop the skills and attitudes needed to become active learners and model citizens of the future. Pupils from Year 1 through to Year 6 will be encouraged to take on a series of challenges to help develop their own personal values and attitude to learning.
